This MSc in Advanced Dynamics Engineering is based around the ethos and physical environment of BLADE (Bristol Laboratories for Advanced Dynamics Engineering) which is a unique experimental and modelling facility within Europe for understanding engineering systems. Particular emphasis is put on large scale dynamic testing of engineering structures. The programme represents a synergy between expertise in all the traditional engineering disciplines.
As systems become more complex, with the involvement of many interacting components, and as materials are made smarter, the modern engineer needs a thorough understanding of the latest design, optimisation and testing methodologies, which are based on high numbers of degrees of freedom and extensive non-linearity.
Through the major research project, and compulsory experimentally-based projects, the students will be given access to the BLADE laboratories to see and try out dynamic testing for themselves.
