The HYDAC Fluid Engineering concept is designed for end users to optimise and/or enhance the availability of machines and fluid technology plants and systems to lower their operating costs. The HYDAC Fluid Engineering concept focuses on optimisation through:<ul><li>Energy Efficiency</li><li>System Availability</li><li>Process Reliability</li><li>Conservation of Resources</li></ul><br />The partnership will initially focus on two main streams. To determine whether a pipe or piece of equipment is structurally sound, water (or occassionally alternative liquids) is used to fill the pipe or equipment in question to its maximum pressure.<br /><br />In some cases the water will be dyed to make detecting leaks easier. In other cases, the system will be closed and the water will be shut off while the pressure of the fluid is observed. If the pressure drops, it's highly likely that the pipe is not structurally sound and most likely has a leak. This can be detected by searching for areas where coloured liquid has escaped from the system.<br /></div>  <div>  <!--BLOG_SUMMARY_END--></div>  <h2 class="wsite-content-title">What can the process be used for?<br /></h2>  <div class="paragraph">From testing the safety and functionality of fire extinguishers to ensuring pipes transporting water, oil and gas are safe to use, hydrostatic pressure testing is a very common process employed by companies across the UK to confirm the safety of their systems and equipment - both new and existing. The technique is often used to test boilers, plumbing systems, fuel tanks, plus oil and gas pipelines across a huge range of industries.<br /></div>  <h2 class="wsite-content-title">Do I need to test my system?<br /></h2>  <div class="paragraph">If you're not already regularly running tests on your pressurised vessels, it's likely that you'll need to use hydrostatic pressure testing to get up to spec. The Health and Safety Executive has numerous rules and regulations that all employers and businesses must follow to protect their workforce and the general public. Ensuring the safety of pressure vessels is a key part of a company's legal obligations. size="4">Introduction</font><br /><font color="#a1a1a1">Turner Hydraulic Group received oil sample(s) from Celsa Manufacturing (UK) for us to carry out a particle count and a patch test with photographic evidence.</font><br /><br /><font size="4"><font color="#3f3f3f">Test Programme</font></font><br /><font color="#a1a1a1">The test equipment used for the particle count measurement was a HYDAC FCU 2110.<br />The patch tests are carried out using the ISO 4406 standard test amount of 100ml drawn through a 1.2 micron membrane and the resulting membrane mounted in a petri slide and viewed under a video linked high resolution microscope.&nbsp;The high resolution mavigraph photographs are taken from the patch test membranes and are at x10 and x100 magnification.</font><br /><br /><font The system was pressure tested to  [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;"><font color="#3f3f3f" size="4">Scope of work:</font><br />Design and build hydraulic ring main (fixed steel welded tube) for the distribution of hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic power units on the ground floor to all hydraulic valve stands and their distribution pipe work to the hydraulic actuators, from ground level to 17 metre level on boilers one and two.<br /><br />All pipe work complied with BS EN 13480 pipe category 'O' was fully welded using socket weld 3000 lb fittings, Tungsten Inert Gas with Argon purge. The system was pressure tested to 200 Bar and then flushed to NAS Class &lt; 3.<br /><br /><font color="#3f3f3f" size="4">Identification of Pipelines</font><br />All hydraulic pipe work was identified using the following colour coding to BS 1710/BS 4800:<ul><li>Hydraulic fluids that are oil based (including water glycol and invert emulsion). Basic identification colour is to be brown colour code 06 C 39, with salmon pink banding colour code 04 C 33.</li><li>Hydraulic systems utilising HFA fluids (&gt;80% water). Basic identification colour is to be green colour code 12045, with salmon pink banding colour code 04 C 33.</li></ul><br />The entire pipe is to be painted in the base coat colour and the paint is to be applied using one coat of the appropriate primer followed by two coats of alkyd gloss.&nbsp;Identification banding shall be 100mm wide, and applied at intervals not greater than 2m apart.
